Kolohe Andino left Red Bull, put his own money into a brand called Steko, and then made a film to go with it. The film is FUDO. It runs 35 minutes, it was shot on RED and 16mm across five countries, and it is doing eight nights in eight cities before it goes to streaming and the theatre run is over.
One of those eight nights is in West Palm Beach, and it is tomorrow.
We carry the Steko FUDO capsule at the Deerfield Beach store, which is the other half of this. Every FUDO boardshort that leaves the shop goes out with a sealed prize envelope from Steko.
The short version
FUDO screens at the Surfing Florida Museum, 7623 S Dixie Hwy, West Palm Beach, FL 33405, on Thursday September 3, 2026, from 6pm to 10pm. Tickets are $20 from Steko at steko22.com and your order confirmation email is the ticket, shown on your phone at the door. The film runs 35 minutes, directed and produced by Kolohe Andino, and features Rasta Robb, Hayden Rodgers, Cole McCaffery, Makai Bray, Jackson Taylor, Rico Haybittle and Taj Burrow. Island Water Sports stocks the Steko FUDO capsule in Deerfield Beach, and every FUDO boardshort bought in store comes with a sealed Steko prize envelope. Call 954-427-4929 to check a size before you drive down.
What FUDO actually is
Thirty five minutes, shot on RED and 16mm, filmed in Indonesia, Australia, Hawaii, Mexico and California. Andino directed it and produced it. Running two formats in one film is a deliberate choice rather than a budget problem, and if you have seen the trailer you can tell which sections were shot on what without anybody telling you.
The organising idea is colour. Every rider in the film was given one, and it runs through everything they touch on screen: their boards, their wetsuits, their wax, the trucks they turn up in, the clothes on their backs. Nothing in the film is that colour by accident. It is the sort of thing that sounds like an art-school conceit written down and then works the second you watch it, because you stop needing captions to know whose section you are in.

Andino has been fairly blunt about why he made it this way. His argument is that surf films got flattened into the same aggressive, everything-is-a-highlight-reel look, and that the sport lost some mystique on the way. Whether you agree or not, FUDO is him spending his own money to argue the point rather than posting about it.
Who is in it
Rasta Robb, Hayden Rodgers, Cole McCaffery, Makai Bray, Jackson Taylor, Rico Haybittle and Taj Burrow, alongside Andino himself. Burrow is the name that will stop people in the room. He has been retired from the tour for years and still surfs better than almost anyone who films for a living.
Where the name comes from
Fudō MyōŌ is a figure who sits in fire and does not move. The two characters, 不動, mean immovable. Through the film a woman builds his sign, and at the end she burns it.
That is also the red sign at the top of this page, and it is on the boardshort.
Getting in
The screening is at the Surfing Florida Museum, 7623 S Dixie Hwy, West Palm Beach, FL 33405, on Thursday September 3, 2026, 6pm to 10pm. Tickets are $20 and Steko sells them, not us. Go to steko22.com and pick the West Palm Beach date. Your order confirmation email is the ticket, so bring it up on your phone at the door.
Worth knowing before you go: the museum normally opens Friday to Sunday, noon to 4pm. This is a Thursday night ticketed event, so it is not a case of turning up and wandering in. It is also worth arriving with time to look around, because the place only opened in May and it is the largest surfing museum on the East Coast, eight thousand square feet of it, one block north of the Trader Joe's on South Dixie.
The boardshort, and the envelope that comes with it
Steko sent every stocking shop a box of sealed prize envelopes, one for every FUDO boardshort. Here is how it works.
- Buy a Steko Fudo Boardshort in store at Deerfield Beach. One envelope per boardshort.
- Keep your receipt and keep the envelope sealed.
- DM @steko22 on Instagram with your proof of purchase and the envelope.
- Steko replies by DM and sorts out the prize directly with you.
Two things to be straight about. The prize is Steko's to give, not ours, so we hand over the envelope and they settle what is in it. And the envelope only comes with the boardshort. The tees, the beanies and the hats are not part of it, which is Steko's rule rather than ours.
You also have to buy it in the shop. There is no envelope on an online order, because somebody has to physically put it in your hand.
What is on the rack
The FUDO boardshort is a limited edition and it is sold out at the brand, so there is no restock coming. What is on the rack is what is left, and the size run has already lost 30 and 36. Live availability sits on each product page.

Who Steko is

Andino started the brand as 2 Percent Surf and had to rename it after a copyright conflict, which is how it became Steko. The bigger move was walking away from Red Bull, a sponsor most surfers would keep until it was taken off them, to put his own money into something he owns outright. He has said he is no longer for sale, and the brand is what that looks like in practice.
The clothes are made in fairly small runs and they sell through. The FUDO capsule is the clearest example of it, since the boardshort was gone at the brand before most shops had it on a hanger.
Before you drive up
We are open 8am to 9pm on Thursday, so there is plenty of room to come in, get a boardshort and your envelope, and still be up in West Palm Beach for doors at six. The museum is about half an hour north of us on I-95.
The shop is at our Deerfield Beach store, 1985 NE 2nd St, the original since 1978. 954-427-4929 gets you someone who can tell you what sizes are actually still hanging up, which is worth a call given how few are left. Hours and directions for all four stores are on the locations page.

Screening details are Steko's and tickets are sold by Steko; Island Water Sports is a stocking retailer and is not the organiser of this event.
