Once a year we empty the board loft into the parking lot and sell it where it lands. The Annual Board Loft Load Out and Sample Sale returns to Island Water Sports in Deerfield Beach on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Boards run 9am to 9pm, the rep sample sale runs 9am to 2pm, and every price on this page is in store only. None of it is available on this website, by phone, or for shipping.
The load out itself happens once a year. New stock arrives for the coming season and the loft has to be empty to take it, which is why these are real reductions rather than a percentage off a shelf price.

What comes down from the loft
The board loft is the storage space above the shop floor, and by late summer it is full: current models, last season's shapes that never moved, and every used board that came in on trade through the year. All of it goes into the lot.
On the new side the volume sits in foam and softtops, where the Storm Blade Classic anchors the $249 pricing. Hard boards run from $299 across the range we stock year round, shortboards through longboards.
This is also the only day of the year we sell our rental boards. They come off the fleet as used soft tops from $40, in a mix of shapes and sizes, and when they are gone they are gone.
The used board wall is where this sale earns its reputation. Two different things hang there and the difference matters on the day. Boards we have taken in and own outright are used, and every one of those is $50 off for the event. Boards marked consignment still belong to the customer who brought them in, so we cannot discount them, and they stay at their listed price. Both are worth your time, but only the used ones move on price. Recent used stock has included a Sharp Eye Disco, a Al Merrick Free Scrubber, a JS Revolution, a Slater Designs Eric Geiselman, and a Pyzel Precious. Each is a single board, so the wall thins fast.
Watersports gear comes down as well. Wakeboards open at $225, covering boards like the Liquid Force FLX, and paddleboards start at $499 against a range that usually begins well above that, including shapes like the MakaSurf 10ft6in. MoBoard Penny-style cruisers fill the cheap end at $20 and never appear online at all.
If you are weighing a trade rather than a purchase, our board swap runs separately from this event and is worth understanding before you arrive.
The sample sale, and why it exists
The tables that go up from 9am to 2pm are not a clearance rack. Sales samples are the exact pieces reps carry to show shops next season's lines, so you are handling gear before it reaches the public rather than picking over what nobody bought.
Reps buy and store those samples themselves, often four hundred items or more a season, out of their own pocket, simply to do the job. They normally sell to shops rather than to people, so a sale like this is how they recoup that cost and sell direct without working out of a storage unit. We provide the lot; they bring decades of building Florida's surf community with them.
In exchange for the space, every rep donates a portion of their takings to our surf camp scholarships. That is the part worth knowing: the cheap boardshorts are funding a local kid's week at surf camp.
The reps bringing tables this year represent Quiksilver, Roxy, Billabong, RVCA, Salty Crew, Stance, Brixton, Arcade, Island Daze, Marine Layer, Hemlock Hat Co, Vintage Summer, Katin, and Reel Skipper, with more turning up on the day.
Some of those we stock year round, so you already know the fit. Marine Layer and Hemlock we do not carry in the shop at all, which is rather the point of a sample sale: the tables are the only place you will see them here. Red Bull, Popshack, and Surfboard Trading Co are joining us in the lot for the day.
Planning your visit
Parking. Our lot is full of surfboards, not cars. The garage directly across the street is the closest option, with public lots and street parking around the S-curve. Saturday spots near the water go early, so leave a few extra minutes.
Payment. Cash moves the line fastest. Zelle, Venmo, and cards all work.
Fitting. There are no in-store try-ons for sample items, no exceptions. Wear something you can pull a pair of shorts over, or accept that you are gambling on the size.
Timing. Apparel sizes go first, so the sample sale rewards the 9am crowd. Boards run until 9pm, so that decision can wait for the afternoon.
In store only, to be clear
None of this pricing exists online. It is not on this website, it is not available for shipping, and it cannot be held or ordered over the phone. It is one Saturday, in the lot, in Deerfield Beach. Call 954-427-4929 if you have a question before you come.
Island Water Sports has been South Florida's original surf shop since 1978. Come early, bring a bag, and expect the lot to look like the photo at the top of this page.
