The best way to shop for a new board is to test it out. We have boards of all shapes and sizes and encourage rentals to see what works best for you. Board rentals are also convenient for travelers and a great way to spend the day or week. Our convenient shop location allows you to rent a board and walk straight to the beach without packing up the car. You can rent surfboards, stand-up paddleboards, skimboards, and bodyboards from our retail location. We also offer ocean tubing and bicycles for an extra fun adventure.

SURFBOARD RENTALS

Surfboards come in different shapes, sizes, and specifications that improve your surfing experience. Surfboard selection should be based on your size, ability, and location and not just on looks alone. Beginners might want to start with a lightweight board with better control and maneuverability. Experienced surfers might want a surfboard made for speed, while advanced surfers might look for boards designed for competitions and overall performance. The experts here at Island Water Sports will guide you in the right direction and help pick the perfect board for you.

STAND UP PADDLEBOARDS

Stand up paddle boarding, or SUP, is a surface water sport where the paddler stands on the board and uses a paddle to move through the water. Stand Up Paddleboards are versatile and can be used for a variety of activities, from surfing to cruising the open ocean, waterways, Intracoastal, and mangroves.

SKIMBOARDS

Skimboarding is a popular sport that can be done year-round along the shores of South Florida, in which the boarder hydroplanes across the thin water of a receding wave. Skimboards come in all kinds of shapes and sizes like circles, ovals, teardrops, and squares. Beginners might want to start with a square-shaped board that stands about mid-chest. Advanced skimboarders can attempt tricks like turns and flips when coming into contact with an incoming wave.

BODYBOARDS

Bodyboarding is a great activity for all levels. Unlike surfboards, whose shape and design are complex, bodyboards are simple and easy to use. Bodyboarders easily kick their feet to propel themselves in with a wave while in a lying-down position with both hands on the board.

To make sure you book enough time for everyone to get a turn on the tube, please consider the following:

• Average tube ride is 7-10 minutes long.
• Average time between rides is 3-5 minutes.
• The tube is limited to 3 people but cannot exceed 280 pounds.
• Riders under 75 pounds must ride with a partner.

Rent to Own: Your Rental Pays for Your Board

Thinking about buying a new board? Test-drive any of our rental boards and apply your rental and demo charges toward the purchase of a new one. Rack up a $100 rental bill and we take $100 off your new board. Valid on rentals within a 6-week period; used and consignment items excluded; credit is non-transferable; customer account required.

Already own a board you have outgrown? Sell or consign it with us and put the credit toward your next one, then browse the full surfboard collection. We also run company demo days throughout the year on our surfboards, paddleboards, and skimboards.

Rental FAQ

Do I need to book a rental in advance?

We rent boards 365 days a year, 7 days a week. Boards can be booked in advance online or by calling ahead, but we always welcome walk-in customers and can usually accommodate last-minute requests.

How long can I keep a rental board?

As long as you need. Rentals run by the hour, day, or week, and we are always happy to work with you on a long-term rental.

Where do I pick up and return my board?

All boards can be picked up and returned at our rental shack at Island Water Sports, 1985 NE 2nd Street, Deerfield Beach. Our Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Pompano Beach shops also rent boards; please call 954-427-4929 first to check availability.

Where do I park while I rent?

Parking at Island Water Sports is limited to customers shopping in the store or completing rental paperwork. While you are out on the beach with your rental, please use the USA Parking garage across the street or metered parking on the beach.

Is rental insurance available?

Yes. An optional Rental Insurance / Damage Waiver is $4.99 per day and covers board damage during your rental period. It does not cover loss, theft, or personal injury.

What happens if a board is damaged or lost?

If rented equipment is stolen, misplaced, or returned damaged, the renter is responsible for the repair or replacement cost. The repair price list is below.

Can my rental fees go toward buying a board?

Yes. With Rent to Own, rental and demo charges within a 6-week period can be applied to the purchase of a new board: rack up a $100 rental bill and we take $100 off your new board. Used and consignment items are excluded, credit is non-transferable, and a customer account is required.
