What is the difference between a wood and a foam skimboard?

Wood skimboards are durable and great for flat shoreline gliding and learning, while foam (epoxy) skimboards float better and are built for wrapping and riding small shorebreak waves.

How do I choose the right skimboard size?

As a rough guide the board should reach roughly between your knee and your chest when stood on end. Heavier riders size up for more float; lighter riders and tricks-focused riders can size down.

Are skimboards good for beginners?

Yes. Start on flat, wet sand to learn the run and drop, then progress toward the shorebreak as your timing improves. We stock boards for both beginners and seasoned riders.

Do I need wax or traction on a skimboard?
