RAINY & FLAT DAY ALTERNATIVES
Lets face it, we live in South Florida. It’s a harsh reality but its gonna be flat most the summer! Floridians also are used to a quick afternoon summer storm before the sun comes out for the rest of the day. In the event of bad weather, camp still goes on. However should there be thunder and lightning we take the kids off the beach immediately and seek shelter.
OTHER ACTIVITIES AT OUR RED REEF PARK CAMP MAY INCLUDE:
Fishing Trips
Gumbo Limbo Field trips
Arts and crafts
Environmental & STEM Education in partnership with Surf Skate Science
OTHER ACTIVITIES AT OUR BOCA RATON CAMP MAY INCLUDE:
Jet Ski Tubing
Fishing
Adventures to Gumbo Limbo Nature Reserve
and Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center
Surf camp is located just on the inside of a protected coral reef so when theres no waves, we are able to paddle out and swim with sea life ranging from sea turtles to tropical fish.
Environmental & STEM Education in partnership with Surf Skate Science
PROUD PARTNER IN MARINE EDUCATION WITH GUMBO LIMBO
Island Camps is proud to partner with Gumbo Limbo in educating the next generation about our oceans. Founded in 1984, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is a unique cooperative project of the City of Boca Raton, the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District, Florida Atlantic University, and Friends of Gumbo Limbo.
Last year, more than 200,000 visitors took a break from the city bustle to enjoy a walk on their boardwalks, count the thousands of tropical fish in their aquariums, relax in their butterfly garden, or check on the patients in their sea turtle rehabilitation facility.
As a beacon for environmental education, research, and conservation, Gumbo Limbo’s 20 acres on the protected barrier island provide refuge to many varieties of plants and animals - some rare or endangered. It also represents a commitment to protect our natural resources by our staff, volunteers, and the organizations that comprise the Center.
The preservation of their natural environment and wildlife resources has been recognized as a national concern for all of their families. Click this link to learn more about Gumbo Limbo.

"This is the 2nd summer of my daughter doing this surf camp and it won’t be the last! She loves it! Even if the waves aren’t cooperating the instructors keep the campers having plenty of fun with beach games, wave mat, or tubing. The instructors really love the kids and have a ton of fun with them. My daughter is really getting the hang of surfing now. See ya next summer!"

"Zane had the best experience as a 1st time surf camper. The one-on-one interaction as each child tried their 1st wave was irreplaceable. But, the best part was watching how the counselors always addressed nonproductive behavior w/a quick & to the point talk ending w/a smile & high five!"
-Cynthia W
"Excellent camp for all ages. My 12 year old just finished a week with Island Camps...the counselors were attentive, fun and made sure many different activities were planned as well as surfing. The visit to Gumbo Limbo and tubing in the ocean were top of the list. Highly recommend!"

For summer camp wetsuits are not needed, however for winter break and spring break camp campers may opt to bring their own. If you think your camper will be more comfortable in a wetsuit, we recommend a wetsuit top or a spring suit. Click here for options.
