Boards
Surfboards for every level and every Florida wave, from mushy summer beach break to head-high winter swell. This is our full board lineup: high-performance shortboards, glide-friendly longboards and funboards, soft-top foamies for beginners, plus bodyboards, skimboards, and a rotating rack of used boards. We carry Channel Islands, Firewire, Pyzel, Lost, HaydenShapes, Sharp Eye, and Wave Riding Vehicles, alongside Softech, Catch Surf, Storm Blade, and our own Island Water Sports soft-tops.
Shapes run from fish and grovelers built for weak surf to step-ups and classic logs, in PU, EPS, and epoxy constructions. Family-run since 1978, we have helped four generations of South Florida surfers find the right board, and our Deerfield Beach crew rides these waves daily.
What surfboard is best for a beginner in Florida?
For most first-timers a soft-top in the 7 to 8 foot range is ideal: the extra foam paddles easily and catches Florida's smaller waves, and the soft deck is safer in crowded summer lineups. The Catch Surf, Storm Blade, and our house soft-tops are popular starting points before stepping down to a hard board.
Do shortboards work for Florida's small waves?
They can, if you pick the right shape. Wide, flat fish and groveler models from Firewire, Lost, and Channel Islands are designed to generate speed in weaker surf, which is exactly what most of our local beach break delivers. Going an inch or two longer than your dream-wave board helps on the smaller days.
Can I trade in or buy a used surfboard?
Yes. We keep a stocked used and consignment rack, so you can score a quality pre-owned board or bring one in to sell. Stop by any of our four stores or browse the used boards online.
