IWS provides skateboarding lessons for all ages and all levels (beginner to advanced).  Our lessons are provided through our IWS skate team and are hosted at a skatepark of your choice.  Skateboarding lessons are customized to each skateboarder based on their ability and their skateboarding goals.  Our instructors offer a wide variety of techniques that can be matched specifically to the skaters skill levels.

PRIVATE LESSONS

During our one-on-one private skate lessons we will teach you how to properly balance, how to turn, how to push, and all other basic fundamentals of how to ride a skateboard.

If you are an experience skater, we can strategically place you with an instructor who can help you take your skating to the next level and perfect those tricks you have been trying to land.

GROUP LESSONS

The more the merrier. If your group is planning on a skate day, this package is perfect for you!   Get big discounts if you come in groups of 4 or more. Perfect for birthday parties, corporate team building, bachelor/bachelorette parties, school field trips, graduation parties, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, and more.

Lesson Time:  $85 1 hour

2 Students:  $65 per student

3 - 6 Students:  $55 per student

7 - 12 Students:  $45 per student

13 - 24 Students:  $35 per student

WHAT IS THE AGE RANGE FOR SKATE LESSONS?

All ages and skill levels are accommodated for. If you can stand on a skateboard, we can help you to learn how to ride one.

Our instructors are staff and/or team riders with years of skateboarding experience.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Our skate lesson focus on everything from learning the basics of skateboarding to perfecting your style.  A variety of the following basics of skateboarding will be reviewed and explained, depending on the student's ability and willingness to learn.  Our instructors offer a wide variety of skateboard techniques that can be matched specifically to the skaters skill level:

  • Proper Foot Placement
  • How To Balance
  • Skate Park Etiquette and Vocab
  •  Pushing on Flat Ground
  • Basic Skateboarding Fundamentals

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO A SKATE LESSON?

We can provide a skateboard and helmet. But, if you have your own, bring it. We also suggest that beginners wear pads. Skate pad sets, helmets and boards are available for sale at Island Water Sports. Please bring sunscreen and a refillable water bottle.
