The Mayhem 3.0 is an all new template Future Fins developed as modern high performance shortboards trended toward more curve under the rear foot for critical pocket surfing. The fins were built to evolve alongside those board rockers rather than stay locked to the brand's long standing thruster template.
Template Design and Construction
Compared to Future Fins' long standing thruster template, the Mayhem 3.0 adds a bit more base with more rake and a narrower tapered tip. The added base and rake bring more resistance and bite when a rider is deep into a turn, helping maintain drive through tight radius turns, while the reduced tip area and tapered flex add release and freedom for quick transitions in and out of turns. Future Fins tested this template at wave pools for controlled, repeatable results and worked with a crew of differently sized elite surfers for feedback. The set is molded in Honeycomb construction and, as a 5-fin set, carries a Balanced ride number of 5.3 when run as a thruster and 5.1 when run as a quad. This Large size suits riders 165 pounds and up.
