Hayden Cox Shaper Fin Built for Speed and Drive
The FCS 2 HS PC Carbon Tri-Quad Fin Set is a direct collaboration between FCS and Hayden Cox of Hayden Shapes. The HS template features a longer base than most all-round fins, which translates to exceptional projection and speed when driving hard off the bottom. The result is a fin that carries momentum through the turn and delivers powerful release on longer, more open face waves.
The Tri-Quad (5 fin) setup gives you the flexibility to run a thruster configuration for tight turns and snaps, or switch to a quad configuration for added drive and flow. That adaptability makes the set genuinely useful across a wide range of surf conditions rather than being locked to one style of surfing.
PC Carbon Construction
PC Carbon stands for Performance Core Carbon. The core is built from FCS's Performance Core fiberglass, then layered with carbon fiber to increase stiffness and responsiveness without adding excess weight. The result is a fin that generates speed quickly, holds through powerful turns, and returns energy efficiently. The carbon layering also keeps the fin stable at higher speeds where a purely fiberglass fin would flex off-line.
The fins ship ready to drop into any board equipped with the FCS II tool-free fin system. No key required. Press, click, surf.
Template and Surfing Style
FCS classifies the HS template in the Reactor category, which targets surfers who want speed, tight turns, and snaps as their primary performance outputs. The longer base generates drive and acceleration on the bottom turn, while the outline through the tip allows the fin to pivot and release at the top of the wave. This balance suits surfers who want to generate speed on slower sections and still deliver powerful vertical maneuvers when the wave opens up.
The template is particularly well matched to higher-volume boards with lower rocker, including the Hypto Krypto and similar performance shapes. These board types benefit from a fin that can initiate speed early and hold a clean line through drawn-out carves.
FCS II Tool-Free Fin System
The FCS II system uses a two-tab base that locks into compatible fin boxes without tools. Installation and removal take seconds, which means you can swap between your thruster and quad setups at the beach. The system is compatible with the full range of FCS II fin boxes and is the same platform used by most FCS fins at every price point, so the HS PC Carbon set fits any FCS II-equipped board in your quiver.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the FCS 2 HS PC Carbon Tri-Quad Fin Set?
- It is a 5-fin set (Tri-Quad) designed by Hayden Cox of Hayden Shapes and built in FCS's PC Carbon construction. It fits any board with FCS II fin boxes and can be configured as a thruster or a quad.
- What boards is the HS fin template suited to?
- The HS template is designed for higher volume boards with lower rocker, such as the Hypto Krypto and similar performance shapes that benefit from early speed generation and drive on the bottom turn.
- What does PC Carbon mean on FCS fins?
- PC Carbon stands for Performance Core Carbon. The fin core is made from FCS's Performance Core fiberglass and is reinforced with carbon fiber layers for increased stiffness, quicker response, and speed under load.
- Can I run this set as a thruster or a quad?
- Yes. The Tri-Quad set includes 5 fins so you can run either a 3-fin thruster setup or a 4-fin quad setup, letting you tune the board's feel to the conditions on the day.
- Does the FCS 2 HS set require tools to install?
- No. The FCS II system uses a tool-free two-tab base that presses and locks into compatible FCS II fin boxes. Fins can be swapped in seconds without a fin key.
- What type of surfing is the HS template designed for?
- FCS places the HS template in the Reactor performance category, which targets speed, tight turns, and snaps. The longer base drives speed off the bottom, and the tip outline allows release for vertical maneuvers on open-face waves.
- Where can I buy the FCS 2 HS PC Carbon Tri-Quad Fin Set?
- It is available in store and online at Island Water Sports. For help choosing the right fin setup, call 954-427-4929.
