His father, Shane, a longtime Dakine signature pad owner, laid the foundation in heavy surf, and Jackson has built on that legacy with a pad engineered for the demands of modern progressive surfing.

3-Piece Construction for Precise Foot Placement

The Jackson Dorian Pro uses a 3-piece layout, which gives surfers the ability to position each section independently for a dialed-in fit across a wide range of tail shapes. Whether you are riding a performance shortboard or a tight-tailed thruster, the segmented design accommodates your stance and tail geometry better than a single-piece alternative.

Positraction Grid and Cut-Out Design

Dakine's Positraction grid pattern covers the pad surface, creating multidirectional grip that locks your back foot in place during critical maneuvers. Cut-outs integrated into the EVA body reduce excess material while simultaneously increasing grip contact points and improving board-feel underfoot. The result is a pad that feels closer to the board without sacrificing traction.

25mm Rolled Vert Tail Kick with Beveled Edges

The 25mm rolled vert tail kick provides a firm, confident reference point for your back heel on every snap and turn. Beveled edges on the kick soften the transition so there are no hard pressure points cutting into your foot during long sessions. Drilled holes through the kick itself accelerate water drainage, keeping the surface clear and reducing the weight of water retention in the channel area.

4mm Center Arch

A 4mm center arch runs through the mid-section of the pad, supporting the natural curvature of the foot and reducing fatigue on extended sessions. The arch height is subtle enough not to interfere with flat-footed stances while providing enough lift to benefit surfers who rely on a pronounced heel-to-toe weight transfer.

Dakine Friendly Foam EVA and 3M Adhesive

The pad is constructed from 100% Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) using Dakine's Friendly Foam compound, which is designed to balance durability, flex, and comfort across a wide range of water temperatures. It ships in plastic-free packaging.

3M high-grade adhesive on the base creates a reliable, long-term bond to your board's deck. When installed correctly on a clean, wax-free surface, the adhesive holds through repeated water exposure and UV without peeling at the edges.

How to Install a Dakine Surf Traction Pad

Clean the deck surface with isopropyl alcohol and allow it to dry completely before removing the adhesive backing. Position the pad dry first, marking your placement relative to the fin boxes and tail. Press each piece firmly from the center outward to eliminate air pockets. Allow the adhesive to cure for at least 24 hours before surfing. Avoid installing in direct sunlight or on a cold board, as both conditions reduce initial adhesion.
