Built for Water, Ready for Anywhere

EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) is the same closed-cell foam used in performance athletic midsoles. On the Arizona Active, the upper straps, footbed, and outsole are all molded from one continuous piece of the material. There are no seams to delaminate, no leather to water-stain, and no cork to soak through. Rinse it under a tap, shake it off, and wear it again. Whether you are heading poolside, crossing a boat deck, or walking from the parking lot to the beach, the sandal performs the same.

Contoured Footbed Support

Birkenstock's contoured footbed is the core of every Arizona, and the Active EVA version replicates its geometry faithfully in molded foam. The deep heel cup centers your foot on the sandal and reduces lateral rolling. The raised arch support distributes weight across the full plantar surface rather than concentrating it at the heel and ball. The toe bar engages the toes naturally with each step, activating the muscles that support the arch over time. This is the structure that distinguishes the Arizona from a flat flip-flop, and it translates directly into all-day wearability.

Two Adjustable Straps

Two independent straps cross the forefoot and the instep, each fitted with a metal pin buckle. Adjust each strap independently to match your exact foot width and instep height. Once dialed in, the straps hold their setting without creeping. The buckle hardware is visible in the molded EVA frame on either side of the foot, giving the sandal a clean, recognizable profile. The straps are wide enough to distribute pressure evenly across the top of the foot so there are no pressure points after extended wear.

Care and Longevity

Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat (such as leaving the sandal on a hot car dashboard) as sustained high temperatures can distort the foam. Store in a cool, dry place when not in use. With basic care, the EVA compound retains its cushioning and shape through extended regular wear.
