Crandon Park Beach suits families, kids, swimmers, and snorkelers looking for calm, shallow water along a long stretch of sand. The fossilized reef just offshore gives snorkelers something to explore, and the north end has a marked kiteboarding zone for certified riders. Crowds run high most days, so plan around that if you want elbow room.

Parking & Access

The beach sits at 6747 Crandon Blvd. in Key Biscayne, reached over a causeway that carries a toll. Parking once you arrive is a paid, flat-rate county lot at the entrance rather than metered street spots.

Rules & Safety

Miami-Dade Ocean Rescue lifeguards watch the beach year-round, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., from elevated towers, so check the posted flags before you get in. Rip currents are the main hazard, along with shallow flats and the occasional jellyfish. Dogs are not permitted on the sand. Personal paddleboard and kayak launches from the beach itself are prohibited; paddling here happens only through the on-site rental operation or the marina.

What's There

Restrooms, showers, grills, and a playground are all on site, along with picnic areas for families making a day of it. The fossilized reef offshore is rated good for snorkeling, and the beach itself runs about two miles of calm, turquoise water.
