Island Water Sports has taught South Florida how to ride since 1978, nearly five decades on this coast. We offer surf, paddleboard (SUP), skimboard, and skate lessons for all ages and skill levels. Deerfield Beach is home base, with Boca Raton, Delray Beach and Pompano Beach on request, available private or in a group, plus free surf lessons every Saturday morning. Our instructors have competed and lived the sport, so whether it is a child's first wave or advanced technique for a seasoned rider, you are in experienced hands.

What types of lessons does Island Water Sports offer?
We teach surf, stand-up paddleboard (SUP), skimboard, and skate lessons for all ages and skill levels, as private one-on-one sessions, group lessons, and the Saturday drop-in session. See each program above for details.
How much do lessons cost?
Surf & SUP lessons :
- 7 AM Saturday morning lessons: FREE - this is a large group lesson where students typically are sharing a surfboard with one other student.
- Saturday Surf Clinics: $35 per student - Surf clinics provide a small group session where students will have their own surfboard. The max attendees will be 15 students.
- Group Lessons (2 or more students): Depending on the number of students participating it ranges from $35 - $85 per student.
- Private Lessons: $99 This is a one on one lesson with you and your surf instructor.

Do you offer lessons for beginners and kids?
Yes. We teach all ages and skill levels across every sport, from complete first-timers to seasoned riders.
We typically recommend students be at least 5 years old, but we make exceptions if they are stong swimmers and their guardian is present during the lesson.
What should I bring, and do you provide the gear?
We provide the boards and equipment for your lesson. But to ensure a comfortable experience we recommend bringing the following
- Sunscreen
- Towel
- water
- Rash guard / sun shirt
- sandals / beach appropriate footwear
- some kids like to wear swimming goggles in the water.
