Odysea X Lost RNF

The world's all-time best-selling fish design is now soft, and it surfs like it should not be allowed to. Matt "Mayhem" Biolos, the legendary shaper behind ...Lost Surfboards, teamed up with Catch Surf to translate his iconic Round-Nose Fish (RNF) into the Odysea platform, and the result is the Odysea X Lost RNF: a board that carries serious performance DNA inside a forgiving, soft-top shell.
A Collab Built on Real Shaping Pedigree
The Odysea Mayhem RNF is not a softboard that nods at performance from a safe distance. Mayhem's RNF outline, made famous in the 90s by surfers like Corey Lopez, was already one of the most copied fish templates in surfing. The ...Odysea version keeps the key traits that made that shape beloved: the sweeping round nose that locks you into early entry, the wide-point pushed forward for drive, and the MR-inspired wing sitting just ahead of the rear fins to release the tail precisely where you want it.
Outline, Rocker, and Bottom Shape
The plan shape is unmistakably fish. The round nose flows into a wide, full-railed body before tapering into the wing and finishing in a winged swallow tail. That tail geometry gives you a choice of pivot points: lean into the pin between the swallow prongs for a tight, skatey arc, or drive off the outer rail for a longer, down-the-line carve. The rocker is low and continuous through the middle, generating speed in weaker surf and making the board feel fast before the wave even does the work. Through the mid-section, a concave channels water and lifts the face of the board; heading toward the tail, the concave transitions to a subtle vee that lets the fins bite and the tail release cleanly at the end of a turn.
Thruster Fin Configuration
The RNF runs a thruster setup with the included high-performance keel-style fins. Three fins give you the drive and control of a standard thruster, but the keel profile on the side fins adds the looseness and glide you expect from a fish. The fin positioning complements the wing: the rear fins sit close enough to the tail to give you snap, while the front fins are raked enough to hold speed through longer, drawn-out turns.
Odysea Construction
Built on Catch Surf's signature Odysea platform, the board uses a multi-stringer core for serious structural rigidity, a soft PE deck for grip and impact absorption, and a high-density PE bottom that keeps the board responsive underfoot. The result is a board that takes drops, kneeboard sessions, and accidental collisions in stride without softening the feedback you get from the fins and tail.
Who Is the Odysea X Lost RNF For?
The Rithum data rates this board for intermediate to advanced riders, and that holds up in practice. The soft top makes it more forgiving than a glass fish in the same template, but the outline and rocker do not coddle you: this board rewards surfers who can generate their own speed and set a rail. It is equally at home for experienced surfers who want the safety of a softboard for crowded breaks, for intermediate surfers ready to step out of a longboard or beginner foamie, and for anyone who simply wants a fish that does not punish wipeouts. Suitable conditions span roughly knee-high to well overhead, with the board performing best in punchy, shorter-period surf where a fish traditionally shines.
Size and Fit
The RNF runs wide and thick relative to its length, which means most surfers can ride it shorter than their usual shortboard without losing float or paddle power. Consult the size chart on this page for the full dimensions and volume of each length. The variant selector shows what is currently available to purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the Catch Surf Odysea X Lost RNF?
- The Odysea X Lost RNF is a soft-top surfboard collaboration between Catch Surf and ...Lost Surfboards shaper Matt "Mayhem" Biolos. It brings the iconic Round-Nose Fish template, one of the best-selling fish outlines in surfing history, into a soft-top construction built for performance and forgiveness across a wide range of surf.
- Is the Odysea Mayhem RNF good for intermediate surfers?
- Yes. The board is rated for intermediate to advanced surfers. The soft-top construction is more forgiving than a glassed fish, making it accessible to surfers who are progressing beyond beginner boards. At the same time, the performance outline and rocker reward skill and give advanced surfers something real to work with.
- What kind of waves is the catch surf rnf by lost designed for?
- The RNF is designed for a wide range of conditions from about knee-high to well overhead. It performs best in punchy, shorter-period surf where a fish generates speed and stays lively on the face. The low rocker and wide outline keep it fast and planing even when the surf is weak.
- What fin setup does the Odysea RNF use?
- The board is set up as a thruster (3-fin) and comes with high-performance keel-style PRO fins included. The thruster configuration gives you drive and control while the keel profile on the side fins adds the looseness and glide characteristic of a fish design.
- What size Odysea X Lost RNF should I ride?
- Because the RNF runs wide and thick relative to its length, most surfers can ride it shorter than their regular shortboard and still get plenty of float and paddle power. Check the size chart on this page for the full dimensions and volume of each length, then use the variant selector to see what is currently available. If you want a personal recommendation, our team at 954-427-4929 is happy to help you dial in the right size for your weight, fitness level, and local surf.
- How does the Odysea X Lost RNF compare to a traditional glassed fish?
- The shape, outline, rocker, and bottom contour closely follow Mayhem's original glassed RNF template, so the surfing characteristics are similar. The key differences are in the construction: the soft deck absorbs impacts and is safer in crowds, while the multi-stringer core keeps the board from feeling mushy. Expect slightly more forgiveness on landings and a board that is easier to share between surfers of different skill levels.
- What tail shape does the RNF have?
- The RNF uses a winged swallow tail. The wing sits in line with the rear fins and tightens the release point of the tail, making turns more pivoty and precise. The swallow prongs let you choose between a snappy, skatey arc off the inner pins or a longer carve off the outer rail.
