Island Foamies

Island Foamies are our own Island Water Sports soft-top surfboards, shaped to get beginners and everyday surfers riding waves fast. Foamies are the easiest, most forgiving way to learn: the soft deck and stable foam build mean fewer dings, safer wipeouts, and more waves caught on your first sessions in the South Florida shore break.

This collection features the Classic Softtop for stable, straight-down-the-line paddling and learning, and the Swallow Tail Softtop for a touch more turn and release once you are linking sections. Both are made in-house and have been a staple at our Deerfield Beach shop since we opened in 1978.

Are soft-top surfboards good for beginners?

Yes. The soft deck is more forgiving on falls, the extra foam makes paddling and catching waves easier, and the stable shape builds confidence quickly, which is why we recommend foamies as a first board.
