Who It's For

Hollywood Beach suits families, swimmers and paddleboarders looking for a full day on the sand, plus dog owners headed to the beach's own Dog Beach section. The 2.5-mile Broadwalk brings a steady stream of walkers, bikers and skaters right along the shore, and it draws a big crowd, so expect company most days.

Parking & Access

Parking is metered, in both street spots and paid garages, and it gets tight in season. The main address is the Broadwalk at Johnson Street, and Charnow Park at Garfield Street is a good central spot to park and walk straight onto the sand.

Rules & Safety

Hollywood Beach is guarded year-round, with 28 lifeguard towers spaced along the shoreline, so check the flags posted at the tower nearest you before you get in. Rip currents are the top hazard on this stretch of coast. Dogs must stay leashed on the main beach, but the leash-free Dog Beach between Pershing and Custer Streets is open every day from sunrise to sunset, and dogs need a current rabies tag there. The Meade Street kite launch runs weekdays only, so watch for kiteboarders on the sand there Monday through Friday, never on weekends.

On-site amenities include restrooms, outdoor showers and a playground for kids. The brick Broadwalk runs 2.5 miles along the sand, an easy stretch to walk or bike before or after your time on the beach.
