Built for the Waterman
The Oakley Split Shot Polarized Sunglasses are engineered for life on the water. A hat-compatible, high-wrap frame delivers a wide field of view while a detachable leash keeps them on your face through surf, boat, and paddle sessions. Whether you are fishing offshore, surfing, or paddling South Florida's coastal waters, the Split Shot is purpose-built to block glare and reveal what the water is hiding.
Prizm Lens Technology
Prizm lenses are tuned to enhance color, contrast, and detail in specific environments. The Prizm Deep Water lens is calibrated for open-ocean and deep-water conditions, amplifying blues and greens so you can read structure, spot fish, and track wave sets with clarity that standard lenses cannot deliver. Iridium lens coating further manages light transmission, reducing glare while maintaining true color rendering.
HDPolarized Glare Elimination
Oakley's HDPolarized technology goes beyond a standard polarized film. It produces a comprehensive, single-layered lens construction that minimizes glare from reflective water surfaces without the optical distortion common in lesser polarized lenses. Pair that with HDO (High Definition Optics) and you get crystal-clear vision with impact resistance that meets or exceeds ANSI Z80.3 optical and impact standards.
Plutonite Lens Material and UV Protection
The lenses are made from Plutonite, Oakley's proprietary lens material, which filters 100% of all UVA and UVB radiation up to 400nm and blocks a portion of harmful blue light. This is a lens-material-level protection, not a coating, so it cannot scratch or wear off over time.
O Matter Frame and Three-Point Fit
The lightweight O Matter frame material provides all-day comfort without sacrificing durability. Oakley's Three-Point Fit system holds the lenses in precise optical alignment by making contact only at the bridge and the two temple tips, eliminating the pressure points that cause lens-to-eye alignment drift. The no-slip Unobtanium nosepad actually increases its grip as perspiration builds, keeping the frame in position during intense activity. The frame is suited to medium to large faces.
Floating Sunglasses: What to Know
The Oakley Split Shot is not marketed as a floating sunglass, but the detachable leash is designed to keep the frame secured to your person so it does not reach the water in the first place. Oakley does produce floating eyewear in separate lines. If float capability is your primary requirement, confirm the specific product specification before purchase or ask in store.
In the Box
Each pair ships with a water-resistant eyewear case fitted with an attachment clip, so you can secure the case to a bag, PFD, or boat rail.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are the Oakley Split Shot sunglasses polarized?
- Yes. The Split Shot uses Oakley's HDPolarized technology, a single-layered comprehensive lens construction that eliminates glare from reflective water surfaces while maintaining optical clarity. It meets or exceeds ANSI Z80.3 standards.
- What is the Oakley Split Shot Prizm Deep Water lens designed for?
- The Prizm Deep Water lens is tuned for open-ocean and offshore conditions. It enhances contrast in blue and green wavelengths so you can read water structure, track swells, and spot fish more easily than with a standard tinted lens.
- Does the Oakley Split Shot come with a leash?
- Yes. The Split Shot includes a detachable leash so you can secure the frame during water activities. The included water-resistant case also has an attachment clip for added security.
- Does Oakley make floating sunglasses?
- Oakley produces certain floating eyewear models in dedicated lines. The Split Shot is not specifically marketed as a floating sunglass; its detachable leash is designed to keep the glasses on your face rather than in the water. If float capability is essential, verify the exact product specification before purchasing.
- Are Oakley Split Shot sunglasses good for fishing?
- Yes. The combination of HDPolarized lenses and Prizm Deep Water tuning is well suited to fishing. The polarization cuts surface glare so you can see below the waterline, and the Prizm tuning sharpens contrast in open-water light conditions.
- What UV protection do the Oakley Split Shot sunglasses provide?
- The Plutonite lens material filters 100% of UVA and UVB radiation up to 400nm and blocks a portion of harmful blue light. This protection is built into the lens material itself, not applied as a surface coating.
- Are the Oakley Split Shot sunglasses good for water sports?
- Yes. The Split Shot was designed specifically for water sports use. The hat-compatible high-wrap frame, HDPolarized Prizm lenses, Unobtanium no-slip nosepad, detachable leash, and Three-Point Fit system all address the conditions watermen encounter: glare, perspiration, movement, and sun exposure.
