Built to Surf, Not Just to Wear

The Vissla 7 Seas 3/2mm Chest Zip Fullsuit is engineered for surfers who demand performance without compromise. Built from 100% super stretch Japanese limestone-based neoprene, this suit is lighter, warmer, softer, and stretchier than petroleum-based alternatives. It goes on easier, comes off faster, and gives you the freedom of movement to surf at your best from the first paddle to the last wave.

Neoprene and Thermal Technology

The foundation of the 7 Seas is its Japanese limestone-based neoprene. Limestone neoprene is produced without petroleum, making it a more eco-conscious choice that also outperforms conventional foam rubber in flex, warmth retention, and durability. The Thermal Brain Fuzz interior lining insulates heat efficiently while drying quickly, so you stay warm in the water and recover fast between sessions.

Eco-Friendly Construction

Vissla built sustainability into the materials, not just the marketing. The outer fabric is Dope Dyed, an eco-friendly anti-fade process using Bluesign approved mills that reduces water and chemical waste compared to conventional dyeing. The lamination uses AquaA, a completely solvent-free, water-based process with no harmful chemicals. Knee pads are made from Upcycled Supratex, an abrasion-resistant material that delivers flexibility and durability while repurposing material that would otherwise be discarded.

Chest-Zip Entry and Seam System

The chest-zip entry keeps bulk off your back and produces a contoured, water-tight seal at the closure. Less flex interference means cleaner paddling and less fatigue over a long session. The seams are triple glued and double blind stitched throughout, and sealed with Vissla Super Stretch Neo 3.0 tape that bonds seams while maintaining full unrestricted stretch and comfort. Liquid tape at the cuffs creates a flush-preventing seal at the wrists, and Glideskin at the neck seals directly to skin to stop water intrusion at the collar.

Anatomical Fit and Functional Details

Vissla engineered the body lines of the 7 Seas to follow the natural angles and flex points of a surfer in motion. The tailored, anatomically correct pattern allows unrestricted performance and maintains warmth by eliminating excess material in areas prone to bagging or pulling. An easy-access secure key cord keeps your key safe in the water. The Upcycled Supratex knee pads protect high-wear zones without sacrificing the range of motion you need for footwork on the board.

Care Instructions

Rinse the suit thoroughly inside and out with fresh water after every session. Hang dry in a cool, shaded area away from direct sunlight. When changing, avoid standing on the wetsuit. The pull cord on the chest zip is designed to be cinched into place once and left there; do not pull it hard each time you put the suit on.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a chest zip and a back zip wetsuit?
A chest zip entry places the zipper across the upper chest rather than down the back. This design eliminates the long zipper down the spine, which is typically the least flexible part of a back-zip suit. The result is a cleaner flex zone at the back, less water entry, and a more secure seal. The trade-off is a slightly more involved entry process, but the performance benefit in the water is significant.
What water temperatures is a 3/2mm fullsuit suited for?
A 3/2mm fullsuit is generally suited for water temperatures in the range of 58 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 14 to 20 degrees Celsius). The 3mm torso retains core warmth while the 2mm panels in the arms and legs allow unrestricted movement. Vissla's limestone neoprene and Thermal Brain Fuzz lining push performance toward the warmer end of that range.
What is limestone-based neoprene and why does it matter?
Conventional neoprene is made from petroleum-derived chloroprene. Limestone neoprene replaces that petroleum source with calcium carbonate (limestone), which is a more abundant and less carbon-intensive raw material. The resulting foam is lighter, warmer, and more flexible than standard petroleum neoprene, and it is considered a more environmentally responsible material.
What is Dope Dyed fabric?
Dope Dyed is a dyeing method in which pigment is added directly to the fiber before it is spun into yarn, rather than dyeing finished fabric. This process uses significantly less water and produces less chemical waste than conventional dyeing. It also produces colors that resist fading over time because the pigment is embedded throughout the fiber, not applied to the surface.
How do I care for the Vissla 7 Seas wetsuit?
Rinse the suit thoroughly inside and out with fresh water after every use. Hang dry in a cool, shaded location away from direct sunlight. Never leave it crumpled in a bag between sessions and avoid standing on the wetsuit when changing. The chest-zip pull cord should be set in its cinched position once and left there; repeated hard tugging can stress the cord attachment.
Is the Vissla 7 Seas chest zip wetsuit good for surfing?
Yes. The 7 Seas was designed specifically for surfing. The chest-zip entry, anatomically engineered body lines, Thermal Brain Fuzz lining, and 100% limestone super-stretch neoprene combine to produce a suit that is warm, flexible, and built to stay in place during dynamic surf movements. The triple-glued double-blind-stitched seam construction and liquid-tape cuff seals are surf-specific details that reduce flushing and keep the suit functional over many sessions.
