Two Traction Textures in One Pad

Channel Islands built the Fader 3-Piece Arch Tail Pad around a mixed groove grip pattern, combining the brand's lined-up texture as the base with a diamond groove layered on top. The idea is one traction pad that gives a surfer more than one type of grip depending on where the foot lands.

What Makes Up the Pad

• 28mm vert kick with beveled corners
• Mixed groove grip pattern (lined-up base plus diamond groove)
• 5mm rectangular arch with die-cut notches for added grip and reduced weight
• BioGrip natural EVA foam
• 3M Marine Grade adhesive

Who Rides This Pad

This is a tail pad for a surfer who wants a locked-in back foot without sacrificing feel, the kind of setup CI's own team riders lean on for high-performance surfing. The beveled 28mm kick gives a clear reference point for foot placement when driving off the tail.

Installing and Living With It

The 3M Marine Grade adhesive backing is built to handle saltwater exposure, so once it is pressed onto a clean, dry deck it is meant to stay put through regular surf sessions. Rinse the board and pad with fresh water after sessions the same as the rest of the board to keep the adhesive bond solid over time.
