Dead Nuts Series Craftsmanship, Bold Graphic Attitude
The Lovable Loser Deck is part of Lake Skateboards' Dead Nuts Series, a line built around one principle: uncompromising quality from American hands. The graphic leans into pop-culture irreverence with a skeleton character rocking a classic zigzag-stripe shirt on the top and a skeleton aviator figure stamped with "made in the U.S.A." on the bottom. The art is loud. The construction is louder.
7-Ply Cold Press Canadian Maple Construction
Lake Skateboards sources hard rock Canadian maple, the industry benchmark for density, durability, and consistent pop. Seven plies are pressed using a cold press manufacturing process, which applies even, controlled pressure across the entire blank without the heat exposure that can cause premature delamination. The result is a stiffer deck with longer-lasting flex memory. Boards that hold their shape and snap session after session rather than going dead after a few weeks of hard use.
Modern Shape and Concave
The Lovable Loser is built on a modern board shape with contemporary concave geometry. The concave channels your feet into a locked, responsive position for technical tricks, and the modern template balances a workable wheelbase with a stable platform that suits both street and park skating. Lake does not overstate the concave or understate it; the geometry is dialed for control without sacrificing flip speed.
Made in the USA
Lake Skateboards presses every deck domestically. That is not marketing language stamped on the bottom -- it is visible in the consistency of the press, the quality of the veneer, and the longevity of the construction. A domestically produced deck means tighter quality control at every stage of the press cycle, from veneer grading through final sanding.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is cold press construction and why does it matter for a skateboard deck?
- Cold press construction uses controlled pressure without heat to laminate the maple plies together. Heat can weaken the glue bond and cause premature delamination. Cold pressing produces a stiffer, more consistent blank that holds its pop longer than heat-pressed alternatives.
- What series is the Lovable Loser Deck part of?
- The Lovable Loser Deck is part of the Lake Skateboards Dead Nuts Series, a collection built around USA manufacturing and hard rock Canadian maple construction.
- Is Lake Skateboards made in the USA?
- Yes. Lake Skateboards presses all of its decks domestically in the USA. The Lovable Loser Deck is manufactured in the USA from hard rock Canadian maple.
- What type of skating is the Lovable Loser Deck designed for?
- The modern shape and concave make it well-suited for street and park skating. The 7-ply hard rock maple construction provides the stiffness and pop that technical street skating demands while remaining versatile enough for park use.
- How do I maintain a maple skateboard deck?
- Keep the deck dry; moisture is the primary enemy of maple plies and can cause delamination and warping over time. Store your board indoors away from direct sunlight. Inspect the nose and tail regularly for chips that may affect trick performance, and replace the deck when pop diminishes noticeably.
- What hardware do I need to complete a setup with the Lovable Loser Deck?
- You will need trucks, wheels, bearings, hardware (bolts and nuts), risers if desired, and grip tape. Island Water Sports carries a full selection of skateboard components in store and online.
