Carver Glass Off CX Surfskate Complete
When the evening glass rolls in and the light turns gold, you want a board that matches the moment. The Glass Off is a mid-length surfskate built around a diamond tail shape and an extended 17 5/8" wheelbase that draws out your lines and lets every pump breathe. Nothing rushed, nothing wasted.
CX Truck System
This complete ships with Carver's CX front truck, the system that put surfskating on the map. The CX combines a pivoting front truck with a standard rear to replicate the front-foot-driven rail-to-rail feel of surfing on pavement. It rewards proper surf technique: compress into the bottom turn, extend through the top, repeat. The longer wheelbase on the Glass Off amplifies this dynamic, smoothing transitions and giving you room to generate speed through big, drawn-out carves rather than tight, choppy pivots.
Board Shape and Construction
The 32" platform sits on a 9 7/8" wide deck with a classic diamond tail that provides a responsive pivot point without sacrificing mid-board stability. The nose measures 3 3/4" and the tail kicks out at 6 1/2", giving the shape a surf-template outline that translates directly to how you read and ride asphalt. The full top graphic features sugarcoat grip tape applied over the artwork so traction and aesthetics coexist without compromise.
Wheels, Bearings, and Hardware
Carver specs the Glass Off with 70MM Mag Smoke 78A wheels. The 70MM diameter rolls over pavement inconsistencies and maintains momentum through longer carves. The 78A durometer sits in the soft-to-medium range, giving you grip and vibration absorption on the kinds of surfaces where you actually train. Bearings are built directly into the wheel core, keeping the assembly clean and eliminating the loose-bearing maintenance cycle. All fasteners are stainless steel, which matters in a coastal environment where standard hardware corrodes fast.
Who It Is For
The Glass Off is built for surfers who want to train specific surfing movements on land and for skaters who want a platform long enough to develop real flow. The mid-length wheelbase suits riders who prefer fluid, carving styles over technical street tricks. It is a complete ready to skate straight out of the box, with no upgrade required to start building surf-specific muscle memory.
About Carver Skateboards
Carver Skateboards pioneered the surfskate category and remains the reference point the rest of the industry measures against. Their truck geometries are developed specifically to replicate surf mechanics, not adapted from street or longboard platforms. The Glass Off represents that philosophy in a board shaped around an actual surf template, built for the rider who treats skating as an extension of time in the water.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between the Carver CX and C7 truck systems?
- The CX uses a pivoting front truck paired with a standard rear truck, which delivers a surf-style carve that rewards front-foot pressure and drawn-out rail engagement. The C7 uses a fully rotating front truck for a looser, more exaggerated pump that generates speed more easily from a standstill. The Glass Off CX is better suited to riders focused on replicating realistic surf technique; the C7 version suits riders who prioritize pump generation and flow on flat ground.
- Is the Carver Glass Off good for surf training on land?
- Yes. The mid-length diamond tail shape, extended wheelbase, and CX truck system are all specifically designed to translate surf mechanics to pavement. The longer wheelbase draws out bottom turns and top-turns so your weight shifts and timing mirror what you do on a wave, making it one of the more surf-accurate setups in the Carver lineup.
- What are the Glass Off wheels suited for?
- The 70MM Mag Smoke wheels at 78A are soft enough to roll over typical pavement cracks and debris while maintaining speed through carves. The larger diameter also suits surf-style pumping, where sustained momentum matters more than quick acceleration.
- Does the Carver Glass Off come fully assembled?
- Yes. The Glass Off is a complete surfskate, meaning the deck, CX trucks, 70MM wheels, built-in bearings, stainless hardware, and sugarcoat grip tape are all installed and ready to ride out of the box.
- How does the diamond tail shape affect how the board rides?
- The diamond tail concentrates the pivot point at the rear of the board, giving you a defined release point when you come off the top or snap out of a carve. Combined with the mid-length wheelbase, it provides responsiveness without the nervousness of a shorter tail, letting you hold a carve longer before committing to the next turn.
- Can I swap the CX trucks for C7 trucks on the Glass Off?
- Yes. Carver sells their truck systems separately, and the Glass Off deck is compatible with both CX and C7 setups. If you want to experiment with the fuller C7 rotation after riding the CX, the swap is straightforward.
- Where can I buy the Carver Glass Off surfskate complete?
- The Glass Off CX 32" complete is available at Island Water Sports in store and online. For help choosing the right surfskate setup, call us at 954-427-4929.
