Built to Ride, Made to Last

The Impala Sidewalk brings serious quad-skate performance into a package designed for women who skate hard and look good doing it. Whether you're cruising your neighborhood, lapping a park path, or rediscovering a classic weekend ritual, the Sidewalk gives you the structural support and rolling efficiency to skate longer and more confidently every session.

Construction and Materials

The boot is built from a PVC upper, heel, and sole -- durable, wipe-clean surfaces that hold their shape session after session. Metal speed lace eyelets reinforce every lace point so the fit stays locked in under real skating load. The padded cuff and tongue cushion the ankle during longer rides without adding unnecessary bulk.

Underneath the boot sits an aluminum alloy truck and baseplate assembly. Aluminum keeps the platform lightweight while delivering the rigidity needed for precise directional control and confident turning. This is the structural backbone that separates a real skate from a toy.

The Impala Sidewalk is a PETA-approved vegan product -- no animal-derived materials are used anywhere in the construction.

Wheels and Bearings

The 58mm urethane wheels run a nylon core and an 82a durometer rating. At 82a, the compound is firm enough to roll fast and efficiently on smooth pavement and skate-park surfaces while still absorbing minor cracks and seams that would stop a harder wheel dead. The 58mm diameter hits the sweet spot for recreational and street skating -- responsive enough to accelerate quickly, large enough to carry speed through a turn.

ABEC 7 precision bearings are seated in each wheel. ABEC 7 is a high-precision tolerance class that minimizes friction and wobble, so the wheels spin freely and roll farther with each push. Paired with the 82a urethane, the result is a skate that stays fast without demanding constant effort from the skater.

Stopping and Safety

A PU brake stopper is mounted at the toe of the right skate, giving beginners an intuitive, reliable way to slow down and giving more experienced skaters a consistent reference point for controlled stops.

About Impala

Impala launched in Melbourne, Australia in 2017, built by a team of women with a genuine passion for skating. The brand channels a nostalgic throwback to the 70s, 80s, and 90s skating era -- updated for modern skaters who want performance and style in the same package. The Sidewalk is the skate that put Impala on the map and continues to define the line.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the Impala Sidewalk skates good for outdoor use?
Yes. The 58mm 82a durometer urethane wheels are well suited for smooth outdoor pavement, park paths, and similar surfaces. The 82a compound is firm enough to roll efficiently outdoors while absorbing minor surface irregularities.
What kind of bearings do the Impala Sidewalk skates use?
ABEC 7 precision bearings. ABEC 7 is a high-precision tolerance class that reduces friction and rolling resistance, so the wheels spin freely and carry speed well between pushes.
Are the Impala Sidewalk roller skates vegan?
Yes. The Impala Sidewalk is a PETA-approved vegan product. No animal-derived materials are used in the boot, wheels, or any other component.
What is the wheel durometer on the Impala Sidewalk?
The wheels are rated 82a durometer. This is a medium-firm compound that performs well on smooth concrete, asphalt, and skate-park surfaces and is the standard choice for recreational and street skating.
Are the Impala Sidewalk skates good for beginners?
Yes. The high-cut PVC boot provides solid ankle support, the aluminum alloy trucks offer stable turning, and the PU toe stopper gives beginners an intuitive braking option. The ABEC 7 bearings keep the ride smooth without requiring constant effort to maintain speed.
Where can I buy Impala roller skates near me?
Island Water Sports carries the Impala Sidewalk womens roller skates both in store and online. Use the variant picker to select your option and place your order directly on this page.
What is the difference between the Impala Sidewalk and other womens roller skates?
The Sidewalk stands out for its aluminum alloy truck and baseplate construction, ABEC 7 bearings, and 58mm 82a urethane wheels -- a specification typically found on more expensive skates. Its PETA-approved vegan construction and the brand's women-led design heritage also set it apart in the recreational quad skate category.
